Description

The VMSC site is approximately 20 acres of land in the south-central area of Stonewall. It is well connected to the community by Main Street, which is the principal mixed-use corridor that connects Stonewall Quarry Park at the north end of Main Street to the VMSC site at the south end of Main Street. The Town is seeking a Master Plan that identifies ways to develop the VMSC site into a significant regional recreation destination to service a growing local population that will also attract tournaments, and competitions. Currently, much of the site is underused throughout the year – exploring all opportunities to provide less single purpose facilities on the site would be ideal. In addition, the Master Plan should address the removal of the existing Ice Palace along with solutions to replace or augment the purposes it currently serves. Consideration must be given to establishing a unique character of facility development as additional to, not competing with, Stonewall Quarry Park as an opportunity to create a strong community focus between the two facilities and enhance the connection along Main Street to drive economic development. .
